MoneyThumb Online Alternative: PDF to QBO Converter Without Per-Conversion Pricing
MoneyThumb Online for QuickBooks is the cloud product MoneyThumb now sells in place of its old PDF2QBO download. It is billed by the conversion, and each account on each monthly statement uses one up. If you are counting statements before you buy, this page does the arithmetic for you and shows a flat-plan route that does the same PDF to QBO job.
Quick answer
MoneyThumb Online for QuickBooks starts at $24.95 per month for 5 conversions, which is $4.99 per statement, and drops to $1.67 per statement on the $99.95 plan for 60. Unused conversions roll over while you stay subscribed. PDFQBO charges a flat $49 per month for 50 documents, which is $0.98 per statement, or $24.50 per month billed yearly. Below about 5 statements a month MoneyThumb Online is the cheaper entry price; above that, a flat plan costs less per statement and does not run out mid-month.

What MoneyThumb Online costs per statement
MoneyThumb publishes six plans for the QuickBooks edition, three billed monthly and three billed yearly with the year's conversions delivered up front. The headline prices look modest until you divide by the conversion count, so the table does that division and puts the PDFQBO plan that covers the same volume alongside each row.
| MoneyThumb Online plan | Price | Conversions | Per statement | PDFQBO plan covering that volume |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly, entry | $24.95 per month | 5 per month | $4.99 | Starter, $49 per month for 50 documents ($0.98 each) |
| Monthly, mid | $49.95 per month | 20 per month | $2.50 | Starter, $49 per month for 50 documents ($0.98 each) |
| Monthly, top | $99.95 per month | 60 per month | $1.67 | Plus, $149 per month for 200 documents ($0.75 each) |
| Yearly, entry | $199.95 per year | 60 per year | $3.33 | Starter yearly, $294 per year for 600 documents ($0.49 each) |
| Yearly, mid | $399.95 per year | 240 per year | $1.67 | Starter yearly, $294 per year for 600 documents ($0.49 each) |
| Yearly, top | $799.95 per year | 800 per year | $1.00 | Plus yearly, $894 per year for 2,400 documents ($0.37 each) |
MoneyThumb prices read from moneythumb.com on 10 September 2026. MoneyThumb also lists larger conversion packs on request. PDFQBO prices are the current list prices; the yearly Starter plan works out to $24.50 per month. Prices change, so confirm on each vendor's site before you buy.
What actually counts as a conversion
The per-statement figures above only hold if you know how the meter ticks. MoneyThumb's own wording is that each account on each monthly statement counts as one conversion, and that reconverting the same file does not count again. Three consequences follow from that.
Combined statements cost more
A business checking statement that also carries a savings account and a line of credit is three conversions, not one. Firms whose clients bank with institutions that print every account on a single PDF should count accounts, not envelopes, before picking a tier.
Quarterly catch-ups burn the month
A quarter of statements for two accounts is six conversions. On the 5-conversion plan that is one month's allowance plus one, so the sixth statement waits for the renewal or you upgrade a tier for a job you do four times a year. Rollover helps only if you had spare conversions banked.
Rollover lasts as long as you pay
Unused conversions carry forward while the subscription renews, which is genuinely useful for uneven months. They are tied to the subscription, though, so a break in billing is where a banked balance is at risk. Read the terms on that point before you buy a large yearly pack.
How PDFQBO counts instead
One uploaded PDF is one document, however many pages it runs to. Plans are a flat monthly allowance, 50 on Starter and 200 on Plus, with no top-up packs to buy and nothing to bank. A statement that fails to read cleanly can be re-run without a second charge. The trade is that unused documents do not roll over, so the plan is priced to leave headroom rather than to be used to the last unit.
Where MoneyThumb Online wins, and where PDFQBO does
We sell one of these, so weigh the table accordingly. MoneyThumb built the online edition on a long-running desktop line, and it inherited features from that line that a newer browser tool does not match on every row.
| Buying question | MoneyThumb Online for QuickBooks | PDFQBO |
|---|---|---|
| Lowest monthly commitment | $24.95 for 5 conversions. Cheaper if you convert fewer than 5 statements a month. | $49 for 50 documents, or $24.50 per month billed yearly. Cheaper per statement from the sixth statement on. |
| Input formats | PDF statements, plus OFX, CSV, QFX and QIF files. Wins if your bank offers a QIF or OFX export you want to reuse. | PDF and scanned PDF only. If you have a CSV or QIF, this is not the tool. |
| Output formats | .qbo Web Connect for QuickBooks Online and Desktop. | .qbo Web Connect, plus IIF for QuickBooks Desktop installs that no longer accept Web Connect, and CSV. |
| Scanned or photographed statements | Included; MoneyThumb describes OCR and IDR built for bank statements. | Included on every plan and every upload, with the extracted rows shown on screen before a file is written. |
| Balance check | Auto-balance reconciliation and assisted payee cleanup. A real advantage on messy statements. | Opening and closing balance shown against the converted total; payee names carried as printed. |
| Stated QuickBooks compatibility | All QuickBooks Online editions except Self-Employed, and QuickBooks Desktop 2023 through 2025. | QuickBooks Online, and QuickBooks Desktop on any supported version via Web Connect, with IIF for anything older. |
| Trying before paying | A trial is offered; the desktop trials historically wrote only the first 10 transactions per file. | One full statement a day without an account, result on screen. Three a month on a free account, with a watermark on the download. |
| Third-party ratings | Trustpilot 3.9 from 87 reviews and G2 4.0 from 25, as reported in September 2026. | No third-party review profile yet. Judge it on the statement you upload. |
Feature descriptions are taken from each vendor's own pages. Where MoneyThumb Online is the better fit we have said so.
Switching from a conversion meter to a flat plan
Count last quarter's statements
Count accounts, not PDFs, the way MoneyThumb would bill them. If the number divided by three is above 5, the entry plan is already too small for you.
Run one real statement here
Upload the ugliest statement you have, ideally a scanned one, and read the rows on screen. No account is needed for the first one.
Tie out the closing balance
Compare the converted total with the closing balance printed on the statement. That is the same check MoneyThumb's auto-balance performs, done by eye in ten seconds.
Import the .qbo
QuickBooks Online: Transactions, Bank transactions, Link account, Upload from file. QuickBooks Desktop: File, Utilities, Import, Web Connect Files. Oldest period first.
Who ends up comparing these two
The bookkeeper who hit the cap
Bought the 5-conversion plan for one client, picked up two more, and now watches the meter every month. Stay on MoneyThumb Online if the total stays under 20; move to a flat 50 if it does not.
The owner doing a year-end catch-up
Twelve months of statements for two accounts is 24 conversions in one sitting. The $49.95 plan covers it for a month; so does one month of Starter, with 26 documents to spare for the credit card.
The firm with an older Desktop file
A client still on QuickBooks Desktop 2022 cannot import Web Connect files any more. MoneyThumb Online writes .qbo only. An IIF export gets the transactions in with no Intuit sign-in.
Questions people ask about MoneyThumb Online
What is MoneyThumb Online?
MoneyThumb Online is the browser-based version of MoneyThumb's statement converters. The QuickBooks edition reads PDF bank and credit card statements, plus OFX, CSV, QFX and QIF files, and writes .qbo Web Connect files for QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop. It is sold as a subscription measured in conversions rather than as a desktop license.
How much does MoneyThumb Online cost?
The QuickBooks edition is $24.95 per month for 5 conversions, $49.95 for 20, or $99.95 for 60. Yearly plans deliver the conversions up front at $199.95 for 60, $399.95 for 240, or $799.95 for 800, which MoneyThumb advertises as 33 percent off. Per statement that runs from $4.99 down to $1.00.
Is MoneyThumb Online free?
No. MoneyThumb offers a trial, and its desktop trials have always been limited to writing the first 10 transactions of a file, but converting a full statement requires a paid plan. PDFQBO lets you convert one full statement a day with the result on screen before you decide whether a plan is worth it.
What counts as a conversion in MoneyThumb Online?
Each account on each monthly statement counts as one conversion, in MoneyThumb's own wording. A PDF that prints checking and savings together is two conversions. Reconverting the same file again does not use another one, and unused conversions roll over as long as the subscription keeps renewing.
Does MoneyThumb Online work with QuickBooks Desktop?
Yes, within the versions Intuit still supports. MoneyThumb states compatibility with all QuickBooks Online editions except Self-Employed and with QuickBooks Desktop 2023 through 2025. Older Desktop versions have lost Web Connect import, so for those you need an IIF file, which MoneyThumb Online does not produce and PDFQBO does.
What is the difference between MoneyThumb Online and 2qbo Convert Pro?
2qbo Convert Pro is MoneyThumb's Windows desktop program, historically sold as a one-time license at $549, or $599 for Pro+ with a year of the PDF+ scanning module. MoneyThumb Online is the subscription version that runs in a browser, includes OCR, and bills per conversion. Same company, different payment model and platform.
Is MoneyThumb Online cheaper than a flat-rate PDF to QBO converter?
Only at very low volume. At 5 statements a month it is $24.95 against $49 for PDFQBO Starter. At 10 statements you are already on the $49.95 plan, level with a flat 50-document plan. Beyond that the meter costs more every month, and a yearly Starter plan at $24.50 per month undercuts even the entry tier.
Can I keep my unused MoneyThumb conversions if I cancel?
MoneyThumb says conversions are valid for the life of the subscription and roll over when it renews. That wording ties the banked balance to an active subscription, so plan to use what you have before the final period ends. Ask MoneyThumb support in writing if you hold a large yearly pack.
